Although the word tavern has its origins in ancient Rome no one knows when the first one opened. Use of the name was revived in England during the 13th and 14th centuries. The earliest English taverns were places for activities like gambling, singing, and drinking. Taverns naturally became part of American society as Europeans began populating the continent. The first tavern in Boston, Massachusetts, opened in 1633.

The Lost Shepherd Tavern was established in June of 2008. We developed The Lost Shepherd envisioning a shepherd finding his way throughout the world, tasting and enjoying some of the most desirable foods and spirits. Upon returning home, the shepherd would share these unique finds and experiences with you, our patrons.

At The Lost Shepherd, long before you're even thinking about lunch or dinner, our staff is meticulously preparing our menu items from scratch, daily. Our goal is to achieve and maintain the standards that have always been important to us. Food quality, efficient service, ambiance, and creative menu offerings are our top priority.

We hope you enjoy your visit with us and that we exceed your expectations! So please sit back, relax, linger and enjoy.

The Lost Shepherd is located in Powell Ohio just east of Sawmill Parkway.
